PHMC'S COMMUNITY HEALTH DATA BASE BERKS COUNTY HOUSEHOLD HEALTH SURVEY

About the Survey
Public Health Management Corporation’s (PHMC) Southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA) Household Health Survey has been the largest and most comprehensive survey of the region’s health since it began in 1983. In the intervening years, PHMC has conducted similar surveys in Berks, Lancaster, Schuylkill, and Centre counties in Pennsylvania, and in Mercer County, New Jersey. In 2012, PHMC and a network of Berks County partners, including the Berks County Community Foundation, Reading Health System, St. Joseph Regional Health Network, and the United Way of Berks County collaborated to create a similar data source for Berks County.

PHMC's Berks County Household Health Survey provides timely information on the health and wellbeing of Berks County residents. With a sample of 1,001 adults across Berks County, the Berks County Household Health Survey allows for detailed analyses of smaller regions of the County to identify needs in specific geographic areas. The survey targets key information about health status, personal health behaviors, and access to and utilization of area health services. These data are available at the census tract, ZIP code, county and regional level.

The Berks County Household Health Survey provides primary data on a broad range of health topics such as health status, access to care, utilization of services, personal health behaviors, health screening information, health insurance status, women's health, child health, and older adult health and social support needs. For a full description of the topic areas of the survey, please view the Topic Areas List Topic Areas List
